Overthinking Is The Tax
Every day spent thinking is a day not doing. The tax compounds daily — and unlike the other kind, nobody sends you a refund.
If you overthink it, you'll never do it. And if you never do it, you'll never succeed. So stop thinking. Start doing.
GETDUMB is a coaching practice built by two best friends, Jay Arascunaga & Peter Gemza, out of three years of real chats about real estate, jobs, trading, faith, and business ideas. One rule survived all of it: the dumb-simple move, done today, beats the perfect plan, done never.
Every big thing Jay and Peter ever actually pulled off started the same way: not with a better spreadsheet, but with a smaller, dumber first step — taken before they felt ready.
Every stalled idea died the same way too: in the gap between thinking about it and doing it. That gap has a name in their chats. It's filled with smarts.
GETDUMB coaching exists to close that gap. We don't make you smarter. We make the next move so simple you can't argue with it — then we hold you to doing it this week.
“The space between thought and action is filled with smarts.”
“Dumb is simple.”
“Get dumb. It's rich. Low cost.”
You are not lazy. You are not untalented. You are stuck in the three most respectable hiding places ever invented:
One more video. One more course. One more tab open. Research feels like progress — it's actually rent you pay on a decision you're avoiding.
The business plan is 40 pages. The launch is “almost ready.” Almost is the most expensive word in your vocabulary — it costs you every day it stays true.
Waiting to feel ready, qualified, or confident before you start. Confidence isn't the entry fee. It's the receipt you get after you've already moved.
Named by Jay on May 11, 2026. Lived in the chats since 2023. Six principles, zero fluff.
Every day spent thinking is a day not doing. The tax compounds daily — and unlike the other kind, nobody sends you a refund.
If it's not simple, it's not the move yet. Complexity is usually just fear wearing a nicer outfit. Shrink it until it's obvious.
“Dumb is simple.”
Smart quits when it gets hard or embarrassing. Tenacity just shows up again tomorrow. Build the muscle that finishes, not the one that sounds good.
“I am going to build TENACITY into my children, not inflate their intellect.”
Waiting doesn't mean standing still. In Jay and Peter's faith, waiting on God looks like walking — movement first, and the meeting happens on the path.
“The walking is the actual waiting on the Lord. We see waiting as no movement but God asks for movement and he'll meet us on the path.”
You can't optimize a thing that doesn't exist yet. Get the reps, get the customers, get the data — then build the system around what's real.
“The point is to get moving… what we need to be 'best' at is prospecting, then we systematize and optimize.”
Failure isn't the opposite of the plan. It is the plan. Every dumb attempt teaches you something a month of thinking never could.
“I just know I'll fail my way to success. Ain't nobody dumber than me.”
Four steps. Repeated weekly. That's the whole system — if it needed a diagram, it wouldn't be dumb enough.
Say out loud the exact thing you've been overthinking — the post, the pitch, the application, the launch. Vague doesn't count.
We cut it down together until it's one dumb-simple move. If a tired person couldn't do it in a day, it's not shrunk enough.
Before you're ready. Before it's polished. Today — because tomorrow is where smart plans go to be “revisited.”
You report back. Worked? Scale it. Flopped? Fail forward, extract the lesson, pick the next dumb move. Weekly, no hiding.
Founding cohort now forming. Pricing is being finalized for the first group — join the waitlist and you'll get founding rates before they go public.
No stock testimonials. These are the actual chats — Jay & Peter's real Messenger archive, 2023 to 2026. This brand wasn't brainstormed. It leaked out of three years of friendship.
“It doesn't get dumber than us.”
Jay's reply: “thats' the book title haha” — the first time the joke became a title.

“The space between thought and action is filled with smarts.”
Peter, same day: “Dumb is simple.” Then: “I can already smell the get dumber book.”
The philosophy, in one afternoon
“Get dumb. It's rich. Low cost.”
The slogan writes itself. Still the best pricing joke in the archive.

“GET DUMB”
Peter's entire two-word pep talk when Jay was overthinking posting on LinkedIn. Jay: “YEP!” Post went up.
Coaching, in its purest form
The GET DUMB faith manifesto.
“Don't call me smart anymore” — build tenacity, not intellect. “Throughout the bible it says because of your intellect you have overcome. NEVER.”
Jay — Messenger
“Need to get back to my GET DUMB campaign.”
Peter: “Start dumb simple. Get a website up.” Also Peter, same stretch: “I'm ready to start coaching people for money.”
The business idea, on the record
“This is the beginning of get dumb consultancy btw.”
“Sign up for the DUMBEST life coaching possible” — and the mission: “freedom from the desk to go and encourage the nuts off everyone.”

“Can we schedule Get Dumb Challenge for 9/1?”
Ninety days later, the Dec 1 check-in question was already set: “Who's got revenue?”
The original challenge
“I call it the Get Dumb Principle.”
Three years of jokes, pep talks, and manifestos finally get an official name.

“The original brand was get dumb.”
Looking back at everything they'd built since — it all traced back to this.

The original challenge was simple: pick one goal, move every day, and let a public scoreboard keep everyone honest. The winner isn't the smartest person in the group. It's the one who actually moved.
Filling out this form is your first dumb-simple move. It takes ninety seconds. If you've been “about to apply” to things for months — notice that feeling. Then submit anyway.
